i danced...

Well, I think I could have slept past 11 am this morning, but boyfriend missed his bus---so I had to take him to work.  This weekend I was completely out of my comfort zone, and it was fabulous.  First of all, I hate flying, and I sadly have to take xanax to get thru a flight.  And the trip was mainly about boyfriend's interests, not mine.  However, in the spare time we had he made sure we did exactly what I wanted to do. Which was touristy crap, Pink's and Hollywood Blvd.  We waited in line @ Pink's for at least 45 minutes, but it was well worth the wait.  Everything was amazing, and we couldn't finish all the food, it was so much!!
The hotel was pretty slinky/gross/oogey, and they messed up a lot, which got us free room service Sunday morning and $50 for the party on Sunday.

Boyfriend listens to Deep House/Tech House/Indie Dance music (whatever all that means), and as you all know from my previous tv post, music isn't in my heart.  But as the loving and supportive girlfriend that I am, I stepped out of my comfort zone and danced.  There were actually two parties this weekend, one Saturday night from 10pm-4am, and then Sunday from 1pm-8pm.  I was not in attendance Saturday night for three four reasons:

1. I knew I wouldn't make it all day Sunday if I went.
2. I might make boyfriend leave early.
3. Going out after eating Pinks was not going to be a smart move for me.
4. It was going to be WAY too intense for me.

I was in attendance all day Sunday, and we actually had so much fun that we forgot to eat until 8pm that night.  We didn't forget to drink though! Lots and lots of water mojitos.... just kidding, we did have plenty of water, and mojitos.
Sunday's line up: Droog, Richy Ahmed, Jamie Jones, Lee Foss
these are water beds
We did eventually work our way to the very front of the group.  I am not going to lie, this takes a lot of smiling and some superior dance skills (it was good boyfriend was with me.)  Plus you run into your random mean girl every so often. I was actually told/yelled at that I was so NOT ready to party. I continued to dance my way to the front, next to her friends. This kind of a party is not about judging, it's about enjoying the people, music, and your environment.  Goodness, we are in downtown LA on a roof, could it get any better? You are in a huge crowd of people dancing, and you are probably going to get bumped, get over it.  Eventually, we were in a friendly atmosphere, and the mean girl just had to get over me being near her.  Her friends were not the least bit bothered by me or boyfriend.
Everyone behind us
Jamie Jones and Lee Foss
This girl had some awesome dance skills, and I was pretty jealous.

All in all, it was a really fun weekend, and we do need to go back with more time on our hands for sight seeing and eating.  If you have any L.A. tips let me know, so I can start planning round two!

tv tuesday

Tuesdays always remind me of tv, because some of my fall favorites are on Tuesdays! Glee, New Girl, Parenthood, and Biggest Loser.  However, these are not the only shows I watch.  You know how some people are super into movies or music?  Well, I am SUPER into TV.  I didn't think it was a problem until I didn't have a job.  As you know from my previous post greys anatomy stole my monday, it is way to tempting for me to sit around and watch tv.  I have to make strict rules for myself otherwise I run the risk of more shameful greys anatomy mondays.  Here is my ridiculously long list of tv shows I watch.  I know I am missing a couple, but that means less judgement from my readers!

SNL, Top Chef, Project Runway, Biggest Loser, Top Design, Top Chef Masters, Glee, New Girl, Biggest Loser, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Girls, Parenthood, Newsroom, The Good Wife, Real Housewives (jersey, orange county, and beverly hills), P.L.L (that one is in code), any and all real world/road rules challenge shows (duel, duel II, fresh meat, gauntlet, etc), The Bachelor, and The Bachelorette, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, America's Got Talent, The Glee Project, Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition, Modern Family, The Voice, Shark Tank, The Ellen Show, Up All Night, Revenge, any and all shows on the Food Network and HGTV.

My top three right now are all on HBO. Girls, Game of Thrones, and Newsroom are all well worth a couple extra bucks for HBO, and if you can find a way to watch them I highly suggest all three.
Girls may not be the best show for guys, but it's like an awkward Sex and the City.  PLUS one of the lead girls is not only the star, but the creator/writer and one of the producers.  That's pretty impressive.  Lena Dunham, you are the bees knees.

Game of Thrones is just plain amazing. I do have to turn away at times, BUT overall I can't get enough of this program.  Tyrion Lannister is my favorite, and Khaleesi is a close second.

If you like Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network, Moneyball) you will like the Newsroom. I love that they use real life news events. I cant get enough, and sadly I think the season ends this coming Sunday :(
Picking a top three is constantly changing by the month, naturally it depends on what is showing.  Come September/October Glee, New Girl, Modern Family, Parenthood, and many more from that list above will be back in the running.  I cant wait!
What are your favorites this month?

weekend

I think I made my first California friend! I don't want to jinx anything, but I am super hopeful.  AND we all took a picture together, so I think it's for real.  Boyfriend's work threw a picnic type thing on Friday where everything was free.  Food, beer, cotton candy, beer, kettle corn, a super cute photo booth, and beer.  This was where I met a couple of boyfriend's coworkers, and their girlfriends, and how we got invited out on Saturday. We started Saturday in Oakland eating the best tacos ever.  Yea, I said it, the best tacos ever.  I had four five tacos, and even though I wasn't at all hungry anymore I think I could have eaten more. Chorizo, al pastor, pescado, pollo, carnita, all amazing, and if you are the adventurous type they also have things like cow head, cow tongue, and cow stomach.  I dont think I could ever have too many of these tacos. Boyfriend and I will definitely be heading back to this place.
We then moved on to a distillery tour and tasting at St. George Spirits in Alameda.  Tour wasn't my favorite, but really what's new with that? I did appreciate our tour guide's energy though, along with making jokes she made the tour semi-interesting for me. I just wanted to taste, and taste we did!  The infused vodkas were my favorite, mostly the kaffir lime or mandarin orange.  I don't think I could decide.  The raspberry liqueur was delicious as well.  Boyfriend's favorite was of course the absinthe, and he came home with a small bottle.  I do wish some of the pictures were better...

As of Sunday afternoon I had TWO NEW FOLLOWERS! Now, that's probably not a big deal to many of you but it's a huge deal to me! Bonus, they both have super cute blogs, so more fun reading! :)
Be sure to check out Ameryn and Lauren.  Hope your weekends were all as fun filled as mine!!

friday's letters

Dear Etta & Tonks,
I would appreciate not being woken up every morning by your sad little meows and paws under the door.

Dear Elena and Gunner (Project Runway),
I really dislike both of you, and I would like you both to quit the competition.  You are ruining the show for me.

Dear Closet,
Thanks for being so inspiring this week.  And I am sorry for never thinking you are enough.  You are definitely enough.

Dear shorts/tights fans who commented yesterday,
THANK YOU! Depending on the weather in the city this weekend, I might be wearing that outfit because of you!

Dear Cupcake Friday,
I am making your neapolitan cupcakes today, and I am extremely excited about it.  Your shiner bock carrot cupcakes are absolutely to die for, and I know these will be just as good.  Check out their etsy shop here, and buy a recipe! They are all melt in your mouth good.

clothes, clothes, clothes

Today, I made outfits out of the clothes in my closet, not my pinterest closet, the real thing, in my bedroom.  Remember how I was super upset yesterday about losing those jeans for $4.75? Well, I am still kind of upset because I think the one and only thing I do not own are a pair of wide leg or trouser jeans.  Everything else I own.  I made over 20 outfits and only went thru 10% of the potential outfits in my closet.  I do not need clothes.  This post is mainly for me, I need to remind myself of the clothes I do have before I try to buy anything. Not all the outfits are fantastic, but realistically who can look fantastic all the time? No one.

Four of the twenty-six dresses I own.
I don't need clothes.
Three of the ten skirts I own.
I don't need clothes.
I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of outfits in my closet.
Clearly, I don't need clothes.
I should actually donate some when I am thru making outfits.
PS I know I was pushing it with the red shorts and tights.  I keep seeing Zooey Deschanel pull it off, and for some reason I thought I could too.  I will save it for a brave day.
Now, to my 6 loyal readers, it is your job not to let me get away with anything in my blog about wanting/needing clothes.  Because, obviously, I am a-okay in that area. I also want to encourage you all to go thru your closet and try super hard to make at least 10 outfits you haven't worn yet.  I have only worn two/three of the outfits pictured above.  AND, donate the stuff you don't wear.  Let's not be hoarders ladies!
